Jones Sign engineered, manufactured, and installed more than 3,500 signs for this world class venue. The work involved signage and specialty construction for the mile-long facility including the iconic 14 ft tall Daytona International Speedway programmable RGB channel letters that extend longer than a football field, massive LED displays, thousands of square feet of graphics, wayfinding, custom specialty exhibits and illuminated elements for all the track's sponsors. Like many of our stadium projects, sponsors were signed very late in construction. As well, it takes both process and a plan to deliver a stadium project. We blended our process with a plan to execute developed with the Construction Manager (Barton Malow). The base contract was a design-assist negotiated to a fixed price. Additional work was a fast-tracked design-build with projects designed and built to a mutually agreeable budget. Dayton Raceway was the project where we learned the importance of project coordinators helping to support the project managers. The PC’s track information and send communication therefore creating efficiencies for the PM and the project in general.
